Keir Starmer, the 61-year-old leader of the Labour Party, grew up in the suburban areas of Kent and Surrey. The lawyer-turned-politician studied at Leeds University and St Edmund Hall, Oxford, Starmer moved to North London and he's called the area home ever since. Having moved between Archway, Highgate and Stoke Newington, he now lives with his wife Victoria and their two children in Kentish Town. The pair reportedly bought their home in 2004 for around £600,000, and it's roughly doubled in value since.
The labour leader is a staple in the Kentish Town community, often spotted by residents out and about enjoying the local attractions. His favourite watering hole is well-known to be The Pineapple Pub on Leverton Street, and he can often be seen there with friends or family enjoying a pint and some Thai food. He's also just a stone's throw away from Hampstead Heath, a bucolic area of London, despite its central location.

Keir Starmer has many high-profile neighbours in the area, which has historically been a fairly bohemian area, attracting writers and artists. Mega-stars Harry Styles and Benedict Cumberbatch are regularly seen around the Heath, and Labour colleague Ed Miliband apparently lives just down the road. The area is steeped in history: Karl Marx, Lucien Freud and George Michael are buried in the famous Highgate Cemetery, and Keats House, where John Keats lived and worked, is open for visitors.
Should Starmer win the election on July 4th we would expect to see the family relocate to 10 Downing Street, the official residence of British Prime Ministers since 1735. Curiously, the current Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has chosen to live in the flat at Downing Street (where he lived as Chancellor, too) rather than the main house, a first since John Major. Presumably, Starmer would opt to move his teenage children and wife into the main residence at Downing Street. Despite Downing Street's luxury and size, Starmer would no doubt miss his Kentish Town community. He told a podcast that if he loses the election he would opt to work in the book shop in Kentish Town.
